Through a network of healthcare resources featuring seven hospitals, more than 6000 staff and a commitment to excellence, Mater Health Services provides care for some half-a-million people each year.
Mater was established in 1906 by the Sisters of Mercy. In 2002, Mater Health Services became an incorporated body, charged with the responsibility to continue the Mission of the Sisters of Mercy to “offer compassionate service to the sick and needy”.
Our history is reflective of the commitment by the Sisters of Mercy and now the Board of Directors and Management Team of Mater Health Services to provide education, training and research in the core clinical areas of Mater.
