EducationMater Health Services is recognised as a leading provider of healthcare and leadership education in Australia. Our educational services are delivered by Mater Education Centre—hospital staff dedicated to providing formal and informal learning and development opportunities. Mater also has strong teaching links with various universities.

Mater Education Centre

Through the Mater Education Centre, we provide quality leadership, professional development and clinical education programs for our staff. Our services are extended to external healthcare providers and also include nationally accredited programs, conferences and extensive consultancy work in organisational development and corporate coaching.

GP Education (CPD)

A key part of Mater's commitment to the medical community is to provide professional development opportunities for General Practitioners.

University Affiliation

Mater Health Services has strong partnerships with a number of Universities and has been a teaching facility of the University of Queensland since 1956. It has formal university departments in Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology as well as joint university appointments across a range of clinical disciplines. Mater teaches students of the Graduate Medical School of the University of Queensland across the four years of the Graduate Medical Course, as well as supplying elective placement positions for medical students of other institutions. There are also joint appointments and university linkages to ACU, QUT, UQ and Griffith University in nursing, allied health, pharmacy and biochemistry.
