Accommodation
Mater Mothers’ Hospital has both shared and single airconditioned rooms. The allocation of the single rooms will be prioritised by midwifery staff on a needs basis.
Every room has an ensuite for the sole use of the occupants of that room. Baby bathing facilities are also provided in each room. Each bedside console has a drawer and locker space, plus a nurse call system. Your midwife or nurse will show you how to use the hand control.
Unless your baby requires intensive or special care they will stay in your room with you throughout your hospital stay. Rooming-in enables you to get to know and bond with your new baby and helps breastfeeding to get off to a great start. Our midwives will help you to feel confident about caring for your family’s newest addition before you go home.
If you are staying in a single room your partner may be able to stay overnight at the midwives discretion.
