Mater Private Emergency Care Centre

Mater Private Emergency Care Centre (MPECC) is an autonomous fee-for service emergency centre run by experienced emergency medical practitioners and qualified emergency nursing staff for patients with emergency conditions requiring assessment and treatment.

We are dedicated to providing high quality healthcare services, through a sincere commitment to the Mater’s core values of Mercy, Dignity, Care, Commitment and Quality, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The services provided complement, but do not replace, the care provided by General Practitioners (GP) or Specialists.

With 95 per cent of patients receiving treatment within 30 minutes the MPECC is there to treat patients with exceptional care—fast.

You can self-present or be referred to the centre by your GP or other medical specialist.

On arrival you will be greeted by one of our reception staff who will organise for an experienced registered nurse to triage you.

Please ensure to inform them of any allergies, past health problems or current medications taken that may help us with your care. This will aide us in treating you in the order of your clinical urgency and as well as that treatment is timely for your needs.

Our centre is fully equipped to triage all paediatric and adult patients with access to onsite specialists, X-ray, Mater Private CardioVascular Unit, pathology and if necessary admission to hospital for further tests or a procedure in theatre.

MPECC and CardioVascular Unit are also closely linked to Mater Private Coronary Care Unit providing a level of care that is second to none for people with cardiac and vascular related illness.


The fee associated with receiving treatment at MPECC includes an out of pocket expense which will not be refunded by Medicare or health funds.

Payment is required on the day of consultation and will vary depending on the length and time of the consultation. The relevant fees will be explained more in detail on arrival. Most accounts contain a portion that can be claimed back from Medicare.

Other items including medication, consumables and medical aides, such as crutches are charged at cost, in addition to consultation fees.

Fees associated with Pathology and Radiology may also contain an out of pocket expense as these services are provided by independent external providers and invoice their fees separately to MPECC.


On discharge from the MPECC the doctor will advise you about your follow-up care which may be scripts, referral to a specialist or request for further tests. Please feel free to contact us if you have any concerns or further information.

With your permission you may be asked if you would like a follow-up call in a couple of weeks to check on your recovery or progress.
