Mater Private Hospital offers a haematology and oncology service which provides specialised care to oncology/haematology patients, their families and visitors.
Nurses employed within the area of oncology and haematology are supported by a nurse manager, advanced practice nurse, oncology nurse educator, palliative care coordinator and clinical nurses. Nurses work autonomously within this multidisciplinary team to ensure patients and their families are provided with holistic care from diagnosis, through various treatment regimes, to discharge.
To ensure the highest standards of care are achieved we employ highly skilled staff and provide extensive inservice programs and hospital education programs. These programs include beginner cancer care courses, advanced chemotherapy courses and stem cell transplant courses (of which the later is affiliated with the Australian Catholic University) as well as initiatives such as the Mater Private Hospital being an assessment site for the American Oncology Nursing Certification course.
Mater Private Hospital strives to embrace individuality by providing an environment that supports not only patients and their families but also the staff looking after them.
