Are there any drop-off zones?
Mater has a several areas where patients and visitors can be dropped off. These zones are indicated on the map, but are subject to time restrictions.

Do I need the correct change for the auto pay station?
No, coins (except 5c and 50c), notes and/or credit cards may be used.
Does Mater have disabled parking/access?
All our multi-level car parks have clearly marked disabled parking bays near the lifts and walkways.
How can I contact the parking attendant?
Use the intercom on the paystations or phone 07 3163 8914 for Mater Hill Car Park or 07 3163 6053 for Hancock Street Card Park between 9 am and 9.30 pm Monday to Friday and 8 am to 9 pm on Saturday and Sunday, excluding public holidays. Calls outside these times will be diverted to Mater security.
How do I exit?
Please pay your ticket at any of our eight auto pay stations prior to returning to your car. Once you are in your car please follow the arrows and exit signs. At the exit, insert your paid ticket into the exit verifier. The gate will then rise to allow you to exit.
How do I get a receipt?
When you pay at the auto pay stations press the green receipt button. This will generate a receipt which can be collected from the change flap. Alternatively, when paying at our car park customer service centre, please request a receipt from the car park attendant prior to making your payment.
Please note that we are unable to issue receipts if you pay at the pay station and do not push the green receipt button.
How do I pay for parking?
There are ten conveniently located auto-pay stations in the car parks, together with a "pay-in-lane device" situated at the Medical Centre Car Park exit. There is an attendant on duty between 9 am and 6.30 pm, Monday to Friday (except public holidays) at the centrally located car park customer service centre in the Mater Hill West car park, level 4. There is also a customer service centre at Hancock street car park, level 1.
Please note all Paystations now take most coins (except 5c and 50c pieces), notes, Visa and Mastercards.
How much is parking?
Parking is $8.00 for the first hour followed by $2.00 for each half hour thereafter. The maximum fee for 24 hours is $24.00.
I’ve lost my car.
Look at the top of your ticket. This will indicate which entrance you came in, and therefore the car park you are parked in (on most occasions).
If I come and go in the same day do I pay each time?
The maximum for one day is $24.00 (8+ hours), if you are leaving with the intention of returning the same day. Contact the car parking attendant and they will issue you with an all-day ticket for $24.00.
What do I do if the pay station cannot read my ticket?
Press the intercom at the pay station for assistance.
What should I do if I lose my ticket?
You will need to report to the Car Parks Customer Service Centre (Level 4, Mater Hill West Car Park or Level 1, Hancock Street Car Park) where your ticket will be replaced, and the maximum daily rate will be charged.
Where can I purchase a weekly parking ticket and what options do I have?
You can purchase a weekly parking ticket from two locations—Level 4, Mater Hill West Car Park for use in Mater Hill East and West and the Medical Centre Car Parks and Level 1, Hancock Street Car Park for use in Hancock Street Car Park only.
There are three options:
- a five day ticket—for five consecutive days, with multi-entry and exits in the one day
- a three day ticket - for three consecutive days, with multi-entry and exits in the one day
- a five exit ticket—valid for five single exits, for up to two months
