Applications close Monday for new part-time Diploma of Nursing course

Mater Education is for the first time offering its unique Diploma of Nursing course part time in 2015.

As an independent Registered Training Organisation, Mater Education has been delivering the course to full-time students for several years, but due to demand has developed a part-time program.

Since 2011, 240 students have graduated ready to step onto a ward and provide exceptional care. Mater Education students study and train in a world-class simulation facility with highly qualified educators.

The course is purposefully integrated and delivered onsite at Mater Health Services where students gain clinical placement experience across some of Mater’s seven hospitals.

Course Coordinator, Sue Cosgrove, said the part-time program offers the same high quality learning and training with increased flexibility for those students who wish to study while working or balancing other commitments.

“It has been designed to meet the needs of dedicated, mature-minded students, requiring only one day per fortnight onsite face to face learning, with a large online and self-directed learning component,” Ms Cosgrove said.

After three years part-time study graduates will receive an HLT51612 Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled-Division 2 nursing) and can apply to the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency and Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia for National Registration and a licence to practice as an Enrolled Nurse.

Mater Education’s part-time Diploma of Nursing course has limited student places. It’s a rare opportunity to study and train onsite at Mater and VET FEE Help is available to eligible students.

Applications for the March 2015 intake are open now and close on 12 January 2015.
