Mater starts work on Hope Island medical hub

Mater Health Services has started work with developer Halcyon Days to deliver the northern Gold Coast’s first multidisciplinary medical centre at Hope Island.

Mater Health Centre Hope Island, on Broadwater Avenue, will include specialist suites, allied health services, radiology/medical imaging, a Mater pharmacy and a Mater Pathology collection centre.

Developer Halcyon Days has also negotiated contracts with general practitioners and dental practitioners to complete the single level health facility.

Mater Private Hospital Brisbane and Redland Executive Director Don Murray said Mater was committed to meeting the growing health care needs of the northern Gold Coast region.

“Hope Island and the North Shore of the Gold Coast have been identified as a region where Mater’s services would benefit the community,” Mr Murray said.

“This proposal includes a number of opportunities available for private specialists to practice in the medical suites, giving residents access to specialist care in a number of disciplines in one convenient location,” he said.

The $6 million development will have 1450 square metres of space to deliver a seamless and holistic health service to the local community.

Developer and Halcyon Days Medical Director Dr Bevan Geissmann said he had experienced first hand the ‘quality of care and people that is Mater’ during his years in medical practice.

“We are obviously delighted and proud to be associated with Mater Health Services and together we plan to deliver not only a great multi-disciplinary health centre, but a great outcome for the people of the northern end of the Gold Coast,” Dr Geissmann said.
