Five years ago, Mater Private Hospital Redland opened its doors to care for the residents of the greater Bayside community.

To mark this occasion, Mater Private Hospital is inviting the local community to celebrate its fifth birthday at the “Redland Family Health Expo” on Saturday 3 September 2005.

The “Redland Family Health Expo” is a free community event, focusing on health and wellness for the whole family and the day will feature variety of activities, practical presentations and information for people of all ages.

Ms Debra Moen, Director of Clinical Services at Mater Private Hospital Redland believes in taking health care to the local community and the “Redland Family Health Expo” is a great chance to learn about health and wellness from the professionals, including doctors, dieticians, physiotherapists and midwives.

“The 'Redland Family Health Expo' will be a great day out for families and I encourage everyone, whatever age, to come along and be actively involved in learning more about healthy lifestyles to suit them.

“There will be something for the whole family, such as cooking demonstrations, the opportunity to learn exercise techniques to increase bone density and also pick up some basic first aid tips, plus there will be exhibits from local businesses and community groups.

“Children of all ages will be kept entertained by a wide range of fun activities, including face painting, a jumping castle, Mr Happy the Clown and games,” Ms Moen said.

The “Redland Family Health Expo” is the hospital’s way of saying thanks to the community for their support and to reflect on the hospital’s achievements over the last five years.

“I am very proud of what we have been able to achieve in such a short period of time and the 'Redland Family Health Expo' will be a wonderful opportunity for our staff, patients past and present and the Bayside community, to look back and celebrate our fifth birthday and our accomplishments,” Ms Moen said.

Over the last five years, Mater Private Hospital Redland has treated over 24 000 people and delivered more then 900 Bayside babies.

“To celebrate four years of exceptional births, Mater is also inviting all babies born at the hospital to join us in a special ceremony at the fifth birthday celebrations,” Ms Moen said.

The “Redland Family Health Expo” will be held at Mater Private Hospital Redland, Weippin St, Cleveland on Saturday 3 September 2005, starting at 10am and finishing at 2pm.
