He is greatly accomplished in his chosen field and has been published in medical journals spanning the globe, presenting at scientific meetings in both Australia and New Zealand.
Dr Knight undertook his medical qualifications in the United Kingdom and completed his specialist training in hospitals in Auckland and Melbourne after emigrating in 1977.
A staff specialist at the National Women’s Hospital for 24 years, Dr Knight also held the positions of Clinical Director of Neonatology for 14 years and Clinical Leader of the National Women’s And Starship Children’s Hospitals in Auckland between 2002 and 2007.
“I have known and admired David Tudehope for many years and visited Mater several times,” Dr Knight said.
“The challenge of taking over from David and working in Mater Mothers’ Hospitals’ Division of Neonatology certainly excites me.”
Dr Knight has settled in Brisbane with his wife, Helen Lamb, who has also joined the Neonatal Critical Care Unit as a Nurse Facilitator after working for many years in Auckland as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
The new Mater Mothers’ Hospitals commenced service on 4 June 2008. The expanded Neonatal Critical Care Unit provides 79 cot spaces including intensive care and special care cots making it one of the biggest Neonatal Critical Care Units in the nation.
