The House for Life—a stunning two-storey, four-bedroom house in Riverstone Crossing, Upper Coomera that has been built entirely by volunteer tradespeople—will go to public auction on Saturday 30 October with all funds raised supporting seriously ill and premature babies at Mater Mothers’ Hospitals, Brisbane.

Queensland builder, Plantation Homes and a dedicated group of approximately 100 suppliers and local sub-contractors volunteered their time and donated all materials to the project.

While one lucky family will get to own this dream home, thousands of seriously ill and premature babies will benefit from the new equipment that this money will buy.

Since its beginnings almost 50 years ago, Mater Mothers’ Hospitals have been the birthplace for over 300 000 babies, welcoming more than 9000 babies into the world each year.

Through the Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU), Mater provides specialised medical and nursing care to 2000 seriously ill and premature babies each year. With 79 cot spaces, health care professionals provide 24 hour care for babies born as early as 23 weeks gestation, weighing as little as 400 grams.

Brisbane’s Mater Mothers' Hospitals are renowned as leaders in the provision of high quality maternity services and have one of the largest neonatology services in the southern hemisphere.

The house will be open for inspection throughout October: Wednesdays 5.30 – 7 pm and Saturdays 1 – 2 pm.
