There were smiles aplenty today when handlers from Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary brought two of their furry friends—Kat and Crumpet—to visit patients at Mater Children’s Hospital.
Mater Children’s Hospital Nursing Director Cathy Keyte said the Lone Pine visit was a chance for children, many of whom may be in hospital over Christmas, to have a cuddle and get their photo taken with the much-loved animals.

Mater Health Services has received a bounty of baby goods from IGA supermarkets to be passed on to families in need this holiday season.
Mater Foundation Executive Director Nigel Harris welcomed the donation of six pallets of baby goods—including nappies, baby food and baby bath products—and thanked IGA for their ongoing support throughout 2011.
“We are very thankful to IGA for their generous donation which will be passed on to economically disadvantaged patients at the Maternity Refugee Clinic and the Murri Clinic, for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients,” Mr Harris said.

Mater Health Services has started work with developer Halcyon Days to deliver the northern Gold Coast’s first multidisciplinary medical centre at Hope Island.
Mater Health Centre Hope Island, on Broadwater Avenue, will include specialist suites, allied health services, radiology/medical imaging, a Mater pharmacy and a Mater Pathology collection centre.

The House for Life—a stunning two-storey, four bedroom home in North Lakes that has been built by local tradespeople who have donated their time and materials—will be auctioned off to the public on Saturday 26 November at 10 am, raising money for seriously ill and premature babies at Brisbane's Mater Mothers' Hospitals (MMH).
