Research

Mater Research was established in 1998 with a primary focus in cancer research. The institute has since grown and now runs additional research programmes in immunology, transplantation, mental health, pregnancy-related disorders, growth and development, diabetes and obesity, with high profile research being undertaken in flood and disaster recovery and preventing stillbirths.

An internationally recognised leader in medical research, Mater Research connects its findings from bench to bedside, translating medical research into clinical practice to deliver better outcomes for our patients and the wider community.

Mater Research is a partner in Queensland’s Translational Research Institute and is closely connected to The University of Queensland.
