Mater has a strong focus on clinical research to complement its clinical practice, teaching and training. Mater is currently strengthening and growing research in our core specialty services and the integration of evidenced-based models.
Research on the campus spans basic science, population-based epidemiology and clinical epidemiology and a wide range of clinical areas across Mater including:
- obstetrics and midwifery
- maternal fetal medicine
- neuro-developmental, child developmental and community outreach
- paediatric endocrinology
- child and youth mental health
- adult and paediatric respiratory medicine (including sleep disorders)
- cancer including haematological, prostate and breast cancer
- infectious diseases.
Mater recognises the value of research as an integral part of quality health care and every year, in clinical departments throughout Mater’s hospitals, exciting new research projects are taking place.
