Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander liaison service (ATSI)

Doctors and people

The ATSI liaison service provides antenatal midwifery care to indigenous women in a culturally safe and caring environment at the Murri Clinic—a social space for ‘women’s business’. The clinic provides access to an indigenous midwife and nurse, and a designated doctor, ensuring continuity of care.

The liaison service offers antenatal classes, including a tour of the Birth Suite and maternity inpatient wards. A postnatal support service is also offered to indigenous women during their hospital stay, and is a common link between the staff and community.

Your General Practitioner or community health service can refer you to the clinic. For further information please telephone 07 3163 1528 or 0404 821 831.
