Orthopaedic Services

Inpatient services

Orthopaedic Inpatient Services offers assessment and acute care rehabilitation of patients with orthopaedic conditions including:

  • hip and knee replacement
  • knee reconstruction
  • foot and ankle surgery
  • upper limb surgery
  • spinal conditions (e.g. scoliosis corrective surgery)
  • trauma (e.g. hip fractures).
  • manages patients after knee arthroscopy (day surgery)
  • organises transition to ongoing rehabilitation after dishcharge including Mater physiotherapy musculoskeletal services and Mater at Home as required.

Outpatient services

  • monthly pre-operative hip and knee replacement patient education sessions (held on the last Wednesday of the month 4.30 pm - 5.30 pm)
  • six week post hip and knee replacement physiotherapy review
  • bi-weekly lower limb exercise class (for patients pre and post-operative hp and knee surgery and non-operative lower limb conditions which would benefit from supervised exercise).

Office hours

Allied Health Reception and Outpatient Services:
Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 4.30pm. Closed on weekends and public holidays.

Inpatient Clinical Services
Mater Hospital Brisbane: Monday to Sunday, 7.30am to 4 pm. Mater Mothers Hospitals: Monday to Friday 7.30am to 4 pm, Saturday and Sunday 7.30am to 1 pm.

Out of hours evening shift (Monday-Friday) and oncall services are provided across Mater Hospital Brisbane and Mater Mothers Hospitals based on clinical need and medical referral.
