Our Services and Programs

Public Services

Mater Child & Youth Mental Health Service (Mater CYMHS) is a public service that provides a continuum of care for patients through community and hospital based assessment and treatment programs. Our consumer participation program informs the planning, development and delivery of services within Mater CYMHS.

Three community clinics operate in the southern suburbs of Brisbane within catchment areas determined by residential address. Community clinics are located at Inala, Greenslopes and Yeronga.

Clinical services are delivered by a number of multidisciplinary teams. Each team provides comprehensive assessment, treatment and follow-up using a case management model incorporating a range of treatment options. The intensity of these services is determined by the treating team and may vary over the course of treatment from brief/primary interventions through to tertiary interventions. More intensive treatment options may include day hospital and inpatient care.

Support to clinical services for specific populations is provided by Infant Mental Health, Indigenous, Multicultural, Dual Diagnosis, Kids of Parents with a Mental Illness (KOPMI), and Eating Disorders programs.

Other specialised aspects of Mater CYMHS include the Consultation Liaison service to Mater Children’s Hospital, Extended Hours service, Early Intervention and Outreach service, Infant Mental Health program, E-CYMHS and a Research Centre.

The Adolescent Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal Service (ADAWS) is a statewide service that provides an 11 day live-in program for young people aged 13 to 18 who feel they have a problem with their substance use.
