Medical Oncology is a part of the Division of Cancer Services. This facility provides services for a multitude of tumour streams (cancer types). The medical oncology area provides services for all types of solid tumours: breast, gynaecological, renal, colorectal, lung, prostate, and gastrointestinal cancers are managed within a comprehensive framework of coordinated care.

The provision of ongoing care includes close affiliations with both Palliative Care and Haematology areas. Furthermore, the team regularly conducts multi-disciplinary meetings: breast, lung, gynaecology, and allied health to ensure patient needs are met through the continuum of cancer management.

Current patients are provided with treatment across the spectrum of care. Services offered at this facility are: out-patient clinic, day oncology care, and ward settings.

Providing a safe cancer treatment program is essential for management of cancer patients. This service provides treatment on the campus. There is also an outpatient pharmacy available, if needed. Administration of chemotherapy is conducted within the day oncology unit and ward areas. This service has a standing for clinical trials ranging from early phase studies to multinational phase III studies.

This service is also supported by a wide variety of Allied Health Personal. These include Dietitians, Social Workers, Physiotherapists, Speech Therapists, Psychologist, Chaplains, and Pharmacists.
