Emotional Health Unit

The Mater Emotional Health Unit is a private service with a range of mental health professionals who treat children, adolescents, adults, couples and families for a broad range of mental health issues.

Featuring consult suites, a dedicated reception area with private billing facilities and comfortable waiting areas, the Emotional Health Unit has been purposefully designed to promote privacy and be as inviting as possible.

The psychiatry, psychology and social work health professionals in the unit are accredited at Mater and are able to seamlessly refer patients to other Mater specialists when required.

To see one of our Emotional Health Unit psychiatrists you will need a referral from a General Practitioner or other treating doctor.

You can see one of our psychologists or social workers without a referral however you will not be eligible for a Medicare rebate.

To access the Medicare rebate for your treatment, your General Practitioner will need to complete a Mental Health Care Plan as part of their referral process.

It is important that you bring your referral to your first appointment.
