Audiology

“Providing a range of tertiary level hearing assessment and rehabilitation services to Mater Hospitals complex and the statewide community”

The Audiology Department provides a range of assessment and rehabilitation services to infants, children and adults.

We participate in many multidisciplinary teams throughout the hospital and specialise in difficult-to-test clients.

The Department also runs the following specialist programs:

  • Mater Infant Hearing Program—testing hearing for babies who are at risk of hearing loss and providing ongoing care for babies diagnosed with a hearing loss.
  • Mater Cochlear Implant Clinic—providing cochlear implants and rehabilitation for children and adults with a severe or profound hearing loss.
  • Central Auditory Processing Assessment Service—providing assessment and management strategies for children with auditory processing difficulties.

The audiology department also has a strong commitment to research and training of new audiology students and other medical and allied health staff.
