The Adult Cystic Fibrosis Unit at Mater is the regional adult cystic fibrosis service for Brisbane’s south side and surrounding areas. The unit provides a multidisciplinary team approach to the care of cystic fibrosis patients. This team comprises dedicated chest physicians, a care manager/coordinator, physiotherapists, a dietitian, a social worker and nursing staff.
Our overriding goal is to help our cystic fibrosis patients to remain as well as possible so that they can enjoy the important things in life (away from hospital). We aim to achieve this by developing an effective partnership between patients and the cystic fibrosis team. An individualised, effective treatment program is tailored to suit each and every patient.
Patients are reviewed every three months in cystic fibrosis outpatient clinics, in addition to an annual review.
