The Sisters commence construction on two brand new Mater hospitals.
1907-1910
Healthcare at Mater moves into the public sector, as the Sisters and Brisbane's medical community and patients 'cross the river'.
1911
Against a backdrop of War, the Spanish Flu epidemic and financial strain, Mater continues to work to provide healthcare.
1912-1924
Mater enters a period of expansion—opening the chapel and convent building and commencing construction on the Mater Children's Hospital.
1925-1927
Expansion continues, with the opening of the Mater Children's Hospital, Mater Pharmacy and the Mater Private Hospital eastern wing.
1928-1938
Mater’s tradition of caring for those in need during times of war continues during World War II.
1939-1945
In a quest to provide care throughout every stage of life, Mater develops plans to establish a maternity facility.
