Mater Allied Health is a collective of health professions (other than nursing and medicine) that provide a range of diagnostic and therapeutic clinical and support services for our patients and their families.
Allied health professionals can provide services as the sole practitioner providing direct care for a patient or work in conjunction with doctors and nurses as part of a patient’s healthcare team.
These services are provided to both insured and non-insured inpatients, outpatients and their families across all Mater hospitals.
Hours of operation vary by service. Please refer to the service pages above for further details.
Each service has its own specific criteria for accepting patients. Please refer to service pages above for further details.
All allied health referrals are prioritised on the basis of clinical need and client safety. On occasion, this may mean that we need to use a wait list for some services. Both the patient and the referrer will be notified of any waiting periods at the time of referral.
Referral requirements vary according to the type of program or service that the patient is referred. Please refer to the service pages above for further details, however the majority of referrals can be made by telephone, fax or letter.
