Our Mater Health Strategy

The Mater Health Strategy will provide us with a roadmap for our future – to 2025 and beyond.

The strategy is forward-looking but still founded on Mater’s historic Vision, Mission and Values.

The overarching goal of the strategy is to deliver the best possible healthcare for our communities and an improved experience for patients, consumers, partners and Mater People.

Our road to 2025

Mater Health has provided compassionate healthcare for Queenslanders for 115 years. During that time, Mater has earned a special place in the hearts and minds of Queenslanders.  We owe this proud legacy to the dedication and enduring values of our founders, the Sisters of Mercy. Their example continues to inspire Mater People to empower others to live better lives through improved health and wellbeing.

The Mater Health Strategy encompasses Mater’s historic Values, Vision and Mission – and builds on the incredible work that Mater has performed in our state since 1906. The Mater Health Strategy provides an inspired roadmap for our future – a roadmap that is underpinned by our Health Planning Principles, our Domains of Excellence, and our Quadruple Aim for consumers, outcomes, people and stewardship.

We want our people to know that Mater has the right priorities, is focused on high performance and is committed to getting us to where the community needs us to be. We also want Mater to be a place of innovation and excitement, for all of us.

We will bring the strategy to life through the work of our health sub-committees. Our sub-committees are developing new ways of collaborative working with Mater Education, Mater Research, Mater Foundation, our partners and the community.

This collaboration has enabled us to seek out new innovative healthcare solutions, as well as new opportunities, as we adapt to the changing healthcare landscape and the needs of our community.

Please use this webpage to learn more about the Mater Health Strategy and how it will transform the way we work in the coming years.

I thank everyone at Mater for their involvement in this exciting project.

Together, we will revolutionise the way our community experiences good health and wellbeing. And we will ensure that Mater’s Value, Vision and Mission continues to thrive for many years to come.
