Mater Central Queensland Graduate Nurse Program

The Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton and Mater Private Hospital Mackay Graduate Nurse Programs offer an opportunity to participate in a comprehensive and individualised program. Our programs are designed specifically for newly graduated registered nurses and aim to consolidate knowledge and clinical skills in a well-supported environment.

Our program

  • Orientation to the hospital and nursing practice 
  • Support of a clinical educator 
  • Monthly education days for the duration of program, including clinical workshops
  • Clinical skill assessments
  • Support and mentoring from clinical nurse preceptors
  • Various ward and speciality placements
  • Access to nurse unit managers in all specialities
  • Regular debrief opportunities

  • Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton: 1 February 2021          
  • Mater Private Hospital Mackay: February 2021 and April 2021
     

Eligibility

To be considered for our Central Queensland Graduate Nurse Program, you must have:

  • Eligibility for registration with the AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) and be registered before the start of the program
  • Recent graduation with a degree in nursing
  • A sound academic record and practicum results
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Willingness to support and work within the mission and values of the Sisters of Mercy.

Applications for the 2021 Graduate Nurse Program are open from 24 July to 21 August 2020.

Applications must include a cover letter, CV, academic transcript and practicum results. Applications that do not meet these requirements may not be considered.
