The Chair of Mater Group, Mr Terry Crawford is delighted to announce Susan Rix’s appointment to the position of Deputy Chair.

Susan is a Chartered Accountant with more than 35 years’ experience—specialising in corporate governance, family councils, succession planning, taxation structures and restructuring—and is currently a Tax and Advisory Partner with BDO, one of the world’s leading accounting and advisory organisations.

Her extensive experience—which extends across the professional practice, retail, financial services and health sectors—includes taxation, general business and management services, provision of budgets, cash flow projections and providing advice to improve business efficiency and profits.

Susan holds positions on numerous Boards and Committees, including within the Brisbane Catholic Archdiocese as Board Member, Catholic Foundation. Susan is also Chair of AEIOU Foundation and, for almost 22 years was a Director at Cerebral Palsy League, receiving life membership in 2003.

It is for her outstanding achievement, service and support to many not-for-profit organisations in Queensland that Susan was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia Medal in June 2014.

Susan said she was delighted to receive the appointment.

“It is a real privilege to have been appointed as Deputy Chair of Mater Group Board and I am very much looking forward to working closely with the rest of the Board members and Mater Executive to ensure Mater continues to develop strategies to meet our Mission and our organisational goals,” Susan said.

Susan was appointed to the Mater Group Board in January 2017 and appointed Deputy Chair in November 2018.

Susan currently chairs the Risk Management and Audit Committee and the Finance Committee at Mater and is also a member of the Mater Foundation Board.
