Celebrating International Nurses Day – Ashlynn Andreoli

Ashlynn Andreoli has been a Registered Nurse at Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg for seven years and loves the task of caring for patients and supporting families.

After relocating to Australia from Northern Ireland more than 20 years ago, Ashlynn knew she wanted a career helping others and decided to train as a nurse.

She joined Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg as an Assistant in Nursing in 2011 while completing her nursing degree and later jumped at the opportunity to join the team as a Registered Nurse when the opportunity arose.

Being a nurse is rewarding and no two days are the same – factors that keep Ashlynn motivated each shift.

“Every day is different and I love it. Nursing is such a great career to go into because of the diversity,” she said.

“It’s not a cookie cutter approach and there are so many different avenues you can go into.”

Ashlynn works across both medical and surgical areas and is passionate about working with patients one on one.

“Despite some days being crazy and busy, knowing that I’ve helped people is just so rewarding,” she said.

“I love my job and will never tire of it – whether it’s supporting families when they most need it or seeing people come in ill and vulnerable, and then helping them come back to their old self and walk out well again.

“I’ve seen patients in pain for years who literally jump out of bed post-surgery. Each and every day as a nurse makes me smile.

“I have never once regretted my career decision—or my move to live and work in beautiful Bundaberg.

“I moved to Bundaberg, met my husband and decided to settle here and start a family. We now have two beautiful children together.”
