Today is International Day of the Midwife – a day when Mater recognises the extraordinary work and commitment of our hundreds of midwives.
The role that midwives have at Mater, and in the lives of mothers, their babies and families, could not be more profound.
Together with our medical specialists, they ensure new lives are brought safely into the world – bringing joy to families and communities across our State.
Our midwives, and the work they perform, are simply remarkable.
Every year more than 12,000 Mater babies are welcomed into the world thanks to their work expertise and experience, their compassion and commitment.
Throughout the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, our midwives have always been there for mums and babies.
Bringing new lives safely into the world.
And helping to create new families every day.
Today we wish all of our midwives in South Brisbane, Brookwater, Redland, Rockhampton, Mackay and Townsville a very happy International Midwives Day.
And we thank you with all our hearts.
