Biography

Dr Luke Reid specialises in rhinology at Mater Private Hospital Mackay. He has more than eight years’ experience in advanced surgical training.

His undergraduate medical training was completed at Monash University in Melbourne, Victoria where he graduated with Honours and was awarded as a Member of the “Golden Key Society” (the Society accepts the top 15% of graduates worldwide). Dr Reid also holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Surgical Anatomy.

Early in his medical career Dr Reid held junior doctor positions in central Melbourne, rural Victoria and in the Northern Territory.

He has completed a highly prestigious Post Graduate Fellowship Training Program in the United Kingdom at the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI) in Rhinology, Facial Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery and achieved Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).

Dr Reid is very involved in the education and training of junior doctors and surgeons. He was the National Trainee representative on the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons ENT Training Board and is a member of the Surgical Sciences Pathology Committee of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He is also now a senior lecturer at James Cook University where he provides direct teaching and mentoring for 5th and 6th year medical students.
