Biography

Dr Myint has been practicing General Medicine for thirty years. Prior to moving to Mackay, Dr Myint has practiced in Hamilton Medical Group, Victoria since 2013 as a public and private Consultant Physician. Dr Myint then relocated to Queensland in 2019 and worked in private practice at St Andrew`s Hospital in Toowoomba.

Originally from Myanmar, Dr Myint obtained primary medical qualification in 1982 from the University of Medicine (I) Yangon in Myanmar. She then joined the Directorate of Medical Services and practiced General Medicine from 1988, as a Consultant Physician from 1998.

Dr Myint completed her Postgraduate Training through the University of Medicine (I) in Myanmar and the West Scotland Post Graduate Training Scheme in the UK, where she received MMedSc (Int Med) in 1991 and MRCP (UK) in 1996. Dr Myint became a Fellow of Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 2007.

Prior to moving to Australia, Dr Myint joined the NHS and worked in Geriatrics and Stroke Medicine at the Crosshouse Hospital in Scotland from 2011-2012. Dr Myint also became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2015.

With a keen interest in medical education, Dr Myint enjoys teaching physician trainees, junior medical doctors and medical students. Dr Myint was appointed as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland, Rural School of Medicine in Toowoomba.

Dr Myint’s interest outside academics are reading, studying dhamma and arts. Dr Myint is excited to be part of Mater Private Hospital Physicians team and is looking forward to working with you all.
