Biography

Dr Willem Pretorius is a South African trained orthopaedic surgeon who has been in general orthopaedic practise in Rockhampton since 2006. His focus is largely on adult reconstruction and sports injuries. Dr Pretorius is dedicated to offering his patients with the latest in digital surgery by using Zimmer Biomet’s ROSA® Knee System for total knee replacement, where appropriate. Robotic-assisted procedures are generally less invasive.

He completed his medical degree at The University of the Free State in 1987 and then completed his orthopaedic training at The University of Pretoria in 1997. In addition, he spent a year at 1 Military Hospital in Pretoria doing adult reconstruction (hip/knee/shoulder arthroplasty) as well as sports medicine (shoulder and knee arthroscopic surgery and reconstruction).

Dr Pretorius was in private orthopaedic practice from 1998-2005 at The Willows in Pretoria before migrating to Australia. He gained his Fellowship in orthopaedics from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2007.

Dr Pretorius accepts WorkCover patients and trauma and welcomes you to contact him for general advice for your patient’s needs.
