Biography

Dr Chris Allan is a highly qualified and experienced surgeon practising at Mater Hospital Brisbane and Mater Private Hospital Brisbane, specialising in general, breast and endocrine, melanoma and soft tissue sarcoma surgery. 

Dr Allan works as a consultant surgeon at the Mater Private Clinic and at the Mater Private Breast Cancer Centre and works closely with related specialists to deliver multidisciplinary patient care. 

He holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from The University of Queensland, and a General Surgery Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. 

He is highly committed to teaching the next generation of surgeons at The University of Queensland, where he is a senior lecturer and the course co-ordinator for surgery. Dr Allan is also an examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. 

Dr Allan completed subspecialty training in breast and endocrine surgery at Mater Hospital Brisbane, followed by melanoma and soft tissue sarcoma surgery training at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. 

He also holds a Master of Philosophy research degree in breast cancer vaccine development from The University of Queensland. 

Dr Allan’s general surgical interests include hernia, gallstones, acute abdominal emergencies, spleen, adrenal, and lymph node pathology.
