Biography

“Being witness to the moment a baby is born, and a family meeting their new little person, is without a doubt the best part of my job.” - Dr Kellie Tathem

Dr Kellie Tathem offers her patients private one-on-one obstetric led care, together with input from Eve Health midwives, specialist physiotherapists, dieticians and psychologists throughout the pregnancy.  With a high level of experience and expertise in both normal and complicated pregnancies and births, Dr Tathem aims to provide a safe and personal experience for every patient.

She specialises in high risk obstetrics, including prematurity and multiple pregnancy, and while most pregnancies are low-risk, Dr Tathem finds comfort in the specialist care provided at Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane, where her patients can have immediate access to skilled midwives, physicians, anaesthetists, theatre staff, paediatricians and allied health staff if necessary.

She has strong interests in preconception counselling for women with a history of high risk pregnancies or medical problems; the prevention of pelvic floor damage and birth trauma; and supporting maternal choice. And outside of her obstetric services, Dr Tathem uses her position to support women and advocate for their needs over a lifetime.
