Biography

Prof Chris Pyke is a general surgeon with a special interest in breast and endocrine surgery.

After completing his surgical training at Mater, Prof Pyke undertook surgical fellowships at the Nottingham Breast Unit in the United Kingdom and the Mayo Clinic in the United States of America. On his return to Australia, Prof Pyke took up a position as senior lecturer with The University of Queensland and completed a PhD in breast cancer risk quantification.

Prof Pyke enjoys the challenge of working within a multidisciplinary team. He describes that environment as incorporating “challenging management decisions, changing team leadership, multiple team inputs, inbuilt quality assurance through cross checking, multiple stakeholders at all levels of the workforce, multiple guidelines and protocols, shared success and shared failure, laughter, tears and exhaustion”.

Prof  Pyke consults from his private practice located on level 7 of Mater Medical Centre, South Brisbane.
