Chris Went is the Chief Operating Officer Mater Hospitals (COO) This role is responsible for the day-to-day  operational management and oversight of Mater Health acute care services across the state and supports 11 acute care facilities.  

For the past 12 years, Chris has held the Chief Executive Officer position at St. Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital and more recently, Greenslopes Private Hospital where she held overall operational and strategic responsibilities. She was also directly responsible for leading the hospital management team, fostering and maintaining strong relationships with the medical community and actively seeking out new opportunities for improving and expanding services.  

Having completed her nursing training in 1992, Chris started her nursing career at Mater Private hospital, South Brisbane as a graduate nurse and progressed into multiple nursing and management roles. She has post graduate qualifications in the clinical specialties of Cardiology and Emergency as well as Business Administration. Chris was a past member of the Queensland Clinical Senate and has represented the Australian Private Hospitals association on the Queensland Clinical Education and Training Council, Department of Health, Patient safety board. She is currently on the board of Ipswich Grammar School.
