Mater celebrates its Springfield leaders

Mater Private Hospital Springfield’s leadership team has been recognised for excellence in delivering quality clinical outcomes and patient care for the Greater Springfield community.

The team received the prestigious Clinical Excellence (Team) Award at the Mater People Awards in acknowledgement of its efforts in caring for the 12,500 patients admitted at the facility over the past year.

Mater Health Executive Director Paul Darcy said the team’s commitment to improving access to quality healthcare in the Greater Springfield area was to be commended.

“Greater Springfield is a rapidly growing community, with evolving health care needs, and Mater’s Springfield leadership team has been unwavering in its efforts to ensure these needs are met,” Mr Darcy said.

“They’ve been innovative, resilient, and responsive in achieving excellent patient outcomes, particularly in pressure injury and fall prevention – that’s been a real highlight over the past 12 months.

“The award also recognises the team’s collaborative approach, irrespective of position or department, which has also gone a long way to ensuring our patients receive comprehensive and compassionate care.”

More than 13,000 procedures are performed at Mater Private Hospital Springfield each year, across specialty areas ranging from oncology and orthopaedics to gastroenterology and maxillofacial surgery.

Mater is continuing to expand its services in the Greater Springfield area, with the opening of its $15.6 million Springfield Health Hub.

It will bring together the collective expertise of Mater Health and Mater Education, housing consultancy suites for a wide range of specialists, while also delivering allied health and wellbeing services and career-ready healthcare courses, certifications, and qualifications to locals.

“In addition to these wonderful services, Mater is embarking on the Mater Hospital Springfield – Stage 2 expansion, in partnership with Queensland Government,” Mr Darcy said.

“The new hospital will open in 2026, with 174 public beds and a much-needed Emergency Department for the area.”
