Mater’s new uniforms are now available to order.
Throughout this process, Mater has worked diligently to create a new uniform range to accommodate a 10,000 strong workforce that accounts for all workstreams, facilities, and climates across the state. This has been a complex process, involving wearer trials and test teams followed by feedback from Mater People and we thank you for your patience and participation throughout this process.
To reflect our statewide organisation and enhance patient recognition, all uniforms will now feature the Mater logo. This change also helps reduce waste by allowing for easier transitions between facilities and services without needing new uniforms for each location.

Uniform allocation
During onboarding, all eligible new starters will receive instructions on how to access the uniform portal to easily order their uniform Starter Pack - everything needed to ensure new starters are ready for their first day with Mater!
A Starter Pack includes:
Full-time staff: Three uppers, three lowers, and one outerwear item.
Part-time staff: Three uppers, two lowers, and one outerwear item.
Casual staff: Two uppers, one lower, and one outerwear item.
Where do I order my uniform or check the status of an order?
Click here to access the new uniform portal where you can login, place an order and check the status of your existing order.
How do I access the uniform portal outside the Mater network?
Current Mater employees and students: Use your Mater email address and the password you set specifically for the uniform portal (not your Mater network password).
New hires or Mater People without a Mater email: Use your personal email address and the password you set during initial setup.
Can I order items from a different workstream?
No, only those items available under the your allocated workstream are able to be selected.
If you believe you have been allocated the wrong workstream, please speak with your manager.
What options are available if I need a uniform item urgently?
For Mater People requiring uniforms urgently and unable to wait for the delivery of new items, you are encouraged to make use of Mater Volunteer’s pre-loved uniform shop. Uniform items are $10 each or free to new starters if they do not receive their uniform in time for their start date.
Email volunteers@mater.org.au for pre-loved uniform questions including size and stock queries.
Can I try on uniform items before placing an order?
Human Resources are in the process of arranging for sample uniforms to be available at each Mater facility for staff to try on.
In the meantime, Mater People are encouraged to use the size guide available in the new portal. If an incorrect size is ordered, you are able to return or exchange uniform items through a simple form in the portal.
Is my account linked to my Mater or personal email address?
Accounts for all Mater People will be linked to their mater.org.au email address.
New starters will initially be asked asked to set up their account using their personal email. Once issued with a Mater.org.au email, their account will automatically transfer over.
Volunteer uniform accounts will be linked to their personal email address
The Employee ID on my profile is incorrect?
Every Mater Person is allocated a unique identifier known as a WAMI, which stands for ‘Who Am I’.
Your WAMI number allows Human Resources to capture the uniform requirements for employees who occupy multiple roles across the organisation and ensures you have access to the correct uniform items in the uniform portal.
Your profile in Mater’s new uniform portal uses your WAMI number as your Employee ID. This number can also be found at the bottom of your payslip

Mater's maternity range is able to be purchased by selecting a Self Purchase Pack.
My employment with Mater is starting soon. How will my login change?
When you begin your employment, your username will automatically switch to your Mater email address. Your password set during initial login will remain the same for external access (outside the Mater network).
Can I purchase additional uniform items if I've used all my allocation?
If your uniform allocation has been exhausted for the year, you are able to purchase additional uniform items at your own cost.
Can I opt to receive a uniform allowance as part of my pay instead of the new allocation system?
To streamline the uniform process, Mater has integrated the new ordering platform with annual uniform allocation. This means that Mater People who currently receive a uniform allowance as part of their pay entitlements, will now be provided with New Starter uniform allocations and annual replenishment packs via their individual accounts on the new uniform portal. Allowances as part of pay entitlements will no longer be an option.
When does my annual uniform allocation reset?
Individual uniform allocation will reset each year (1 January for nursing / 1 July for non-nursing) and will not accrue or rollover.
What does my uniform allocation entitle me to each year?
As part of the initial rollout of the new uniform, all eligible Mater People will be provided with a one-off uniform Starter Pack at no cost.
Each starter pack includes:
- Full-time staff: Three uppers, three lowers, and one outerwear item.
- Part-time staff: Three uppers, two lowers, and one outerwear item.
- Casual staff: Two uppers, one lower, and one outerwear item.
Following the initial rollout, cost centres will be charged for uniforms.
When annual uniform allocation resets, Mater People are able to order an annual replenishment pack which includes:
- Full-time staff: Any four items within the appropriate workstream.
- Part-time staff: Any four items within the appropriate workstream.
- Casual staff: Any two items within the appropriate workstream.
Am I eligible for a uniform if I only receive laundry allowance?
If you currently receive laundry allowance, then you are eligible to order the new uniforms.
How do I know if I’m eligible for a Mater uniform?
Mater People who currently receive a uniform or laundry allowance as part of their pay entitlements, are eligible to order from the new Mater uniform range.
