Mater Hospital Springfield is located on Jagera, Yuggera and Ugargpul Country.
Mater brings together more than a century of expertise and compassionate care to improve the health of the western corridor.
We deliver this through the provision of world-leading healthcare – inside hospitals, in people’s homes and in the community, including targeted services for refugee and First Nations communities.
Addressing unmet health needs is central to Mater’s Mission and was the driving force behind Mater’s decision to build the first hospital in the master-planned community of Springfield in 2015. The proposed expansion and construction of the community's first public hospital will meet the current and future health needs of the rapidly growing western corridor and provides the State Government with a number of significant advantages over other options for delivering hospital services in the region.
For the first time, Springfield residents won't have to drive to Brisbane or Ipswich to access an Emergency Department, maternity or paediatric wards.
Please note there is currently no Emergency Department or maternity ward open at our Springfield campus. This website will be updated once services open in early 2026.
Visiting hours
Mater Hospital Springfield has begun to open in stages in order to ensure every patient receives the highest quality of care.
This staged opening will bring lower complexity services online initially to ensure systems and processes work effectively, before higher acuity services such as the Emergency Department.
To date, our operating theatres, medical ward, antenatal clinics and the outpatients department have opened on site.
- 27 April: Mater Mothers, Intensive Care Unit, Mater Pathology, and surgical ward.
- 25 May: Mater Emergency and paediatric ward.
