Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Liaison Service

Mater’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Liaison Service was established in 1997 to provide support and healthcare information to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community accessing care at Mater.

Acknowledgement of Traditional Owners

In the spirit of reconciliation, Mater acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country in all of the regions in which we operate and their connection to land, sea and community.

We pay our respects to their Elders - past, present and emerging.

How we can help

On admission or arrival at Mater, please let us know if you are of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander origin. This will help Mater respond to your healthcare needs.

In South Brisbane and Townsville, where we have a Liaison team on site, we
will seek to visit you during your stay in hospital.

Contact details for these teams are below, or you can ask a member of your healthcare team.
