Both of these cards offer unique benefits and value for money to women giving birth at Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane by bundling together some of the additional costs associated with having a baby. This helps to alleviate some out-of-pocket costs associated with giving birth that are not necessarily covered by private health insurance or Medicare.

Yes. But to obtain maximum benefit from the bundle, we recommend you purchase the card prior to your first ultrasound at Mater Women's Imaging.
I’ve already had my two routine ultrasounds. Is there still value in purchasing the Bundle of Joy Premium card?
If you have already had your two routine ultrasounds, then you may want to consider purchasing the Bundle of Joy card priced at $390, as opposed to the Bundle of Joy Premium card.

Once I’ve purchased my Bundle of Joy card, where do I collect it from?
If you’ve purchased a Bundle of Joy Premium card, then your card will be available for collection when you attend your first ultrasound at Mater Women's Imaging, located on Level 7 at Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane.
If you’ve purchased a Bundle of Joy card, then your card will be mailed to the postal address that you supply to Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane at time of purchase.
Where can I have my blood tests?
The Bundle of Joy Premium and Bundle of Joy cards include routine blood tests at Mater Pathology only.
No appointment is required at Mater Pathology. Simply take your referral for pregnancy blood tests to your nearest Mater Pathology collection centre. You can take any pathology request form to Mater, even if addressed to a different pathology provider.
If you decide to have your blood tests taken by another pathology provider, you may incur out-of-pocket costs.
Routine blood tests include the following tests:
- Free bHCG
- PAPP-A
- Full blood count (FBC)
- Blood group and antibodies
- Rubella antibody titre
- Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
- Syphilis
- Urine Microscopy Culture Sensitivity
- Thyroid function
- Chlamydia
- Glucose tolerance test
- Electrolytes and liver function
It may include these tests (dependant on your specific risk factors):
- Vitamin D
- Measles, Mumps, Varicella, CMV Toxoplasmosis, Herpes viruses.
- HbA1c
- Urinary protein: creatinine ratio
- Cervical screening test
- Ferritin (iron studies)
All other tests (including NIPT) may incur additional out-of-pocket costs.
I have a Bundle of Joy Premium card. Can I receive my two routine ultrasounds from any provider?
No. The Bundle of Joy Premium card includes two routine ultrasounds at Mater Women's Imaging only.
Recognised internationally as a leader in pregnancy ultrasound scanning, especially for detection and management of complex pregnancies, Mater Women's Imaging is located on Level 7 at Maternal Fetal Medicine, Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane.
You can take any ultrasound request form to Mater Women's Imaging.
If you decide to have your ultrasound scan completed by another imaging provider, you will incur out-of-pocket costs.
What if I need more ultrasound scans?
The Bundle of Joy Premium card includes two routine ultrasound scans during pregnancy (at 12-14 weeks, and 18-20 weeks). If you require more ultrasounds, you can access a 20 per cent discount on additional ultrasound scans at Mater Women's Imaging with your Bundle of Joy Premium card.
What if my blood test or ultrasound referral is addressed to an imaging or pathology provider other than Mater?
This is no issue. You can take any pathology request form to Mater Pathology and any ultrasound request form to Mater Women's Imaging, even if it’s addressed to a different provider.
How can I access the partner meals in hospital?
With your Bundle of Joy Premium or Bundle of Joy card, we will take care of your partner’s meals for up to four days after your baby is born. They will receive room service free of charge for up to three meals a day, no more than 10 meals in total. Options include breakfast, lunch, and dinner. These 10 meals will automatically be recorded and subtracted from your invoice.
As a private patient, your meals will already be catered for.
How can I access the free hospital car parking?
Enjoy four consecutive days of free car parking when your baby is born thanks to your Bundle of Joy Premium or Bundle of Joy card. Simply tap your Bundle of Joy Premium or Bundle of Joy card at entry and exit of any Mater carpark to gain free access. Upon your first tap, this will activate the four consecutive days of free car parking.
To make the most of your four consecutive days of free car parking, we recommend you make use of this after the birth of your baby.
Should you choose to access your four consecutive days of free car parking sooner, please note that car parking linked to your Bundle of Joy Premium or Bundle of Joy card is activated two months prior to your baby’s expected birth date.
What happens if I purchase a Bundle of Joy Premium card and then experience a miscarriage?
Sadly, not every pregnancy goes to plan. If you have only been able to have one ultrasound scan, Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane will issue you a refund equivalent to the cost of the Bundle of Joy Premium card.
What happens if I purchase a Bundle of Joy card and then experience a miscarriage?
