Mater’s proposed agreement for nurses and midwives
Mater has tabled a four-year offer for the 2026 Nursing and Midwifery Enterprise Agreement.
The offer responds to your feedback, presented to us by unions and bargaining representatives in negotiation meetings over the past year, and recognises the importance of nurses and midwives across our hospitals and services.
The QNMU has requested additional time to review the offer, but Mater believes nurses and midwives have waited long enough.
We are now putting this offer to you for voting, however, it will only be applied if there is a majority ‘yes’ vote in the upcoming ballot.
It’s important that every nurse and midwife has a voice and that means participating in the vote.

Mater’s offer includes:
- Year 1 - 3 per cent wage increase, backdated to July 2025 (subject to a majority yes vote)
- Year 2 - 2.5 per cent wage increase in July 2026
- Year 3 - 2.5 per cent wage increase in July 2027 plus an additional 3 per cent wage increase in December 2027
The wage increases in the first three years are the same increases as those provided by Queensland Health.
Further, and in addition, Mater is also offering:
- Year 4 - 2.5 per cent wage increase in December 2028.
Plus
- An increase from 175 per cent to 200 per cent for Sunday penalty rates, effective from July 2028.
- A qualification allowance, payable to nurses and midwives who hold dual undergraduate degrees and use both degrees in their duties at Mater. This would be effective from the commencement of the agreement.
If the offer results in a majority yes vote at the ballot, you will receive backpay with a 3 per cent increase to July 2025 as soon as possible – prior to the 2.5 per cent wage increase from 1 July 2026.
