In 2025, Mater began construction on a $40 million expansion of Mater Private Hospital Townsville Pimlico campus.
This project will consolidate maternity and renal services previously delivered at the Hyde Park campus, creating a new centre of excellence for women’s health and chronic care.
The new Mater Mothers’ Private Townsville will include 12 inpatient maternity beds, three birthing suites, six special care nursery cots, and family-friendly amenities.
The expansion builds on earlier site improvements, including the opening of a multistorey car park that significantly increased on-site parking capacity, enhancing accessibility and safety for staff, patients, and their families. Supported by a $9 million contribution from the Australian Government, the expanded facility is due to open in early 2026.
