Prof Chris Pyke

Professor Chris Pyke was appointed Chief Medical Officer in November 2024, following a long career at Mater as a general surgeon specialising in breast and endocrine surgery.
Widely recognised for his experience and advancements in breast cancer treatments, Prof Pyke is Chair of Clinical Standards and Excellence at BreastScreen Queensland, President of the Australian and New Zealand Chapter of the American College of Surgeons and is a board member of Karuna Hospice Services.
He has held several positions for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons over the past decade and is currently Chair Section History, Heritage and Archives.
Prof Pyke is also Professor of Surgery at The University of Queensland.
