Chris Townend

Mr Christopher Townend was appointed to the Mater Misericordiae Ltd Board in April 2023 and is Chair of the Finance, Risk, Audit and Compliance Committee and a member of the Strategic Development and Sustainable Infrastructure Committee.
Mr Townend is an accomplished international Non-executive Director experienced in a broad range of business and government structures throughout Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. As a former Chief Financial Officer, Mr Townend brings a blend of strong financial expertise, broad commercial operational experience and a strong governance skillset developed across multiple jurisdictions and industry sectors. Mr Townend is Chair of ThomsonAdsett and a member of the Queensland Regional Council for Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand. Mr Townend serves as a member of the Audit and Risk Committee for the Uniting Church QLD Synod and of the Finance Committee for the Presentation Sisters QLD.
Mr Townend is an experienced chair of finance, audit and risk committees and has led the development of enterprise risk frameworks in a number of settings. Previous boards include Uniting Care Queensland, Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand, GD Pipelines and Mercy Super. Mr Townend is a former member of the Finance, Investment and Property Board for the Uniting Church QLD Synod.
Mr Townend holds a BA(Honours) Business Studies from the Humberside College (UK) and an MBA (distinction) from Massey University (NZ). Mr Townend is a Fellow Chartered Accountant, Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia and a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
