Dr Katie Williams joined Mater Misericordiae Ltd as an independent member of the Finance, Audit and Risk Management Committee in February 2025. With more than 25 years of expertise in governance, risk management, and digital transformation, she is passionate about driving innovation and excellence in healthcare and human services.
Katie has a strong history with Mater, previously serving as a strategic adviser to help shape a five-year plan for our in-home and community care services, including refugee health. Her work focused on leveraging digital innovation to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes.
As a former partner at KPMG, Katie led major reform programs and technology initiatives across Australia’s health and government sectors, ensuring robust governance frameworks and ethical oversight. Her leadership reflects a deep alignment with Mater’s Mission to deliver compassionate care and improve health outcomes through integrity and innovation.
Katie holds a PhD in Information Systems and Security and is a Senior Lecturer at The University of Queensland Business School, where she teaches in the MBA, the Master of Business Analytics, and a range of Executive Education programs.
Katie also directs the new UQ and Queensland Government AI Leadership program, equipping senior public sector leaders with the skills to navigate artificial intelligence for transformative impact.
