Mater Moments at Ardo Townsville

This service is available to mums, babies and families who are well enough to be discharged from Mater Mothers' Private Townsville on day two or day three for a caesarean birth. Subject to eligibility and availability. 

To be eligible for Mater Moments at Ardo Townsville you need to be insured with, or change your insurance, to a private health fund with coverage that permits this (currently: Medibank and AHM, BUPA and ADF members).  

You and your baby need to be well and medically discharged by your obstetrician and paediatrician.

As you and baby have been medically discharged from the hospital this would not normally be required.  

You will receive a welcome care pack upon arrival at Ardo Townsville which will include contact numbers for 24/7 access to the team at Mater Mothers’ Private Townsville, if there were concerns about you or baby.

The hotel checkout time is strictly 10 am. 

We ask that you kindly adhere to this checkout time, as the hotel must allow sufficient time to clean the room before the next Mater family arrives for their stay. 

Yes, other family/children can stay at the hotel. Once you are at the hotel you can arrange for a trundle bed at a cost of $80 p/p per night (as per hotel policy).

Discounted Ardo Townsville room rates are available for family members of Mater Mothers' Private Townsville patients who chose to participate in Mater Moments at Ardo Townsville.  

Please note, as per hotel policy, there is a maximum of four people per room (for example mum, partner/carer, baby and 1 x child/guest) and children under the age of 18 will not be permitted to stay at the hotel unsupervised.  

Going to Ardo Townsville is your special time with baby and those you love.  

Your experience at Ardo Townsville will be very different from being an inpatient at Mater Mothers’ Private Townsville. You and your baby will be medically discharged from the hospital.  

A Mater Mothers' Private Townsville midwife will visit you at Ardo Townsville to complete a postnatal wellbeing assessment of you and your baby.

You will receive a welcome care pack upon arrival at Ardo Townsville which will include contact numbers for 24/7 access to the team at Mater Mothers’ Private Townsville, if there were concerns about you or your baby.  

Mater Moments at Ardo Townsville is a two-night stay at the luxurious Ardo Townsville.  

Extended stay options, subject to availability, can be organised through Ardo Townsville with discounted hotel rates available for families who have chosen to participate in Mater Moments at Ardo Townsville.  

If you choose to stay at the hotel, you may need to move from your original room to another within the hotel.  If you do choose to extend your stay, this is at a further cost to you and is outside of the Mater Moments at Ardo Townsville service. Mater staff are not able to support you in the new room or provide additional equipment such as a cot and/or bath.

Check-in at Ardo Townsville is from 2pm. After enjoying lunch at Mater Mothers’ Private Townsville, and upon being medically discharged from the hospital, you and your family can make your own way to Ardo Townsville and check-in at a time that suits you.  

Valet parking is included as part of your stay at Ardo Townsville. 

A hospital baby cot, the same style as used at Mater Mothers' Private Townsville, will be available in your hotel room.

The hotel will supply daily tailored room service meals for mum, including one non-alcoholic beverage per meal, from a menu specifically designed for new mothers.

You will be required to pay for any other meals/refreshments purchased for you, for anyone staying with you or any goods consumed from the mini bar (as per hotel policy).

You will enjoy a spacious, two-room suite with private balcony and water views*. The suite includes: 

• separate bedroom with king-size bed
• cot and baby bath
• lounge room with four person dining table and a separate work station
• a welcome care pack
• free wifi and up to two smart-TVs
• individually controlled heating and cooling
• USB power points
• dual showerhead with rainfall shower
• luxurious robes
• refrigerator to keep breastmilk.

In addition, enjoy access to the hotel’s premier amenities including restaurants, day spa, iconic rooftop pool and bar with water views, and The Ville Resort’s infinity pool.

You will need the same items you are asked to bring to the hospital for your stay at Ardo Townsville. Other items you may wish to include are: 

• baby clothing
• baby wraps and blankets
• baby fundamentals (nappies, wipes etc)
• all personal toiletries
• feeding equipment and/or breast pump.

Visitors are very welcome at the hotel. If you intend to have family come and visit, we ask that you inform the hotel reception staff so your visitors can get access to your room. Valet parking is also available for visitors. The hotel has public areas, restaurants, day spa and an iconic rooftop pool and bar with water views that you and your visitors can enjoy.  

Yes. Ardo Townsville staff may pre-authorise a charge on your credit card for the cover of incidentals.
