Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast offers a complimentary Preadmission Clinic service to prepare patients for surgery. The preadmission appointment streamlines your admission and identifies any concerns that may impact your recovery. Your surgeon may ask you to attend an appointment at the clinic in person, or the preadmission nurses may contact you to make an appointment. For people unable to attend the hospital, telephone appointments are available. Our nurses coordinate care with our allied health team across rehabilitation, physiotherapy and discharge planning in the event you require these services. Please allow up to 45 minutes for your appointment.
The preadmission nurses may make arrangements for a telephone interview due to inability of the patient to attend in person.
Your appointment may include
- A comprehensive nursing assessment
- ECG, blood pressure, temperature
- Education relating to your procedure
- Discharge planning and equipment hire
- Completion of admission forms
- Blood test and x-ray as ordered by your surgeon
What to bring
- The completed admission booklet
- Alternatively ensure you have completed your eAdmission online 48 hours prior to your appointment (or for maternity patients, before you reach 20 weeks)
- Forms for blood tests and x-rays
- Current medications in their original boxes (you will take them home after your appointment and bring them back again on your day of surgery)
