Stress urinary incontinence

Patient information

Many women involuntarily leak small amounts of urine at times. When leaks become frequent or severe enough to be a problem, this is called urinary incontinence, or loss of bladder control. This condition often can be successfully treated.

For detailed information about urinary incontinence including different types and causes of urinary incontinence, symptoms and treatment options please read the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare’s publication: Urinary incontinence.
