Biography

A/Prof Dr James Daveson completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland and physician training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital. He is an adult gastroenterologist with expertise in luminal gastroenterology, including coeliac disease and inflammatory bowel disease, with an impressive and growing track record as a clinician-researcher in the coeliac disease field. His published work has a high degree of translational relevance and in several instances has directly informed clinical practice.

Over the last 10 years Dr Daveson has established specialised clinics in both Mackay and Brisbane. His endoscopic expertise includes gastroscopy, colonoscopy, capsule endoscopy as well as small bowel balloon assisted enteroscopy. 

Dr Daveson has been published in international peer-reviewed journals, is the author of several book chapters, is a key contributor and supporter of the Medical Advisory Committee of Coeliac Australia and has contributed to awareness campaigns and educational activities for dieticians, general practitioners, physicians and the public.
