Biography

Associate Professor John Avramovic opened North Queensland Minimally Invasive Surgery in 2003 and North Queensland Obesity Surgery Centre in 2007, with Dr Sam Baker. 

A/Prof John Avramovic was born and educated in Sydney. A/Professor Avramovic graduated from the University of Sydney in 1982, with honours. He trained as a specialist surgeon at Westmead Hospital in Sydney and completed The Australasian College of Surgeons fellowship in 1991. He then completed a laparoscopic fellowship year in Sydney in 1992, before working in England for 18 months as a senior registrar in vascular surgery.

A/Prof Avramovic has been in Townsville since 1994, pursuing his interest in hepatobiliary pancreatic and oesophago-gastric surgery in both the private and public hospitals.
