Biography

Dr Adam Coughlan is a highly experienced orthopaedic surgeon practising at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane. He has a special interest in sports injuries, including shoulder, hamstring, knee and ankle conditions. He also performs arthroplasty of the shoulder, hip and knee, as well as trauma and general orthopaedics.

Dr Coughlan completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at The University of Queensland, followed by specialist training across Queensland. He then undertook further subspecialty training in orthopaedic sports injury at Clinique du Sport and Chirurgie du Sport Clinic — both world-class centres for orthopaedic surgery in Paris, France.

At these esteemed institutions, Dr Coughlan refined advanced surgical techniques for sports pathologies of the shoulder, hamstring, knee and ankle. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Australian Orthopaedic Association.

Dr Coughlan has worked across multiple regional hospitals throughout Queensland and the Northern Territory. 

In addition to consulting at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane, he also holds public appointments at the Princess Alexandra and Queen Elizabeth II hospitals in Brisbane.
